CANGO
AWARDS 2005 As we read daily the very dismal reports about the deteriorating
state of our world, as we see the gradual weakening of social systems and
the values that bind us as a community, as the ever gruesome reports of the
worsening state of the world confront us, abuse of rights, increasing
incidence of diseases, hunger and conflicts worldwide, one cheering news
remains that a cream of people world wide remain dedicated to human
progress, whose hearts are filled with unfailing spirit and human kindness,
organisations who dream and work for better world, better education, peace
and rights, individuals who despite the tyrannies of modern terrorism,
confront the various evils of our times; watchdoging and working with
multilateral and bilateral institutions to rise above narrow or self
interests; challenging governments to rise up
and live up to their responsibilities of good governance, mobilising civil
society to participate in social development; holding business to its social
responsibility; inspiring new visions and paradigms for our world; leading organisations, mobilising
coalitions and collaborations with governments, other NGOs, communities and
business to bring smiles on the faces of the poor, the
helpless and the voiceless; directing the energies of human spirit, human
institutions and of technology to
solving mankind's many pressing problems. To honor their courage and
dedication, leadership and excellence, passion and vision, wisdom and work,
service, sacrifice and solidarity, and the remarkable achievements and
